I hate summer

Filed under: Misc., Photos - drunkenlagomorph @ 12:45 pm

I don’t understand the advertisements about “Summer’s Here!” like it’s a big whoop-dee-doo. Who likes it? It’s hot. Gas prices go up. Kids are out of school and on my lawn (geddoff my lawn, ya damn kids!).

I want fall, and sweatshirts. I want winter and snow. I want the end of my deodorant failure.

Oh April in Colorado. How I miss you!

  2. Yeah, I’ve just about had it with summer, myself. The damn mosquitos here are eating me alive. My kids are making me mental. I can’t wait until we all go back to school.
Autumn in Maine.. there’s nothing else like it.

  3. Are you nuts? If there’s one thing I hate more than eminem, it’s the cold.

  4. I like summer. :(

Humid is bad, but you don’t have to shovel it.

  5. I love winter in Colorado–when it snows. This 100 degree bullshit sucks. Give me October thru April anyday! By the way, it looks like you might live in my neighborhood! Of course, how many of those neighborhoods all look the same??

  6. Mmm… doggie in snow. That’s what’s fun. My dog hates rain but loves the snow.

  8. Oh I hear ya, gurl. I’m all about wearing black. Lots of black and my gorgeous black trench.

  9. Ya know, I don’t mind so much if the A/C is working and I don’t have to leave the house. I like lounging in our local pool, but hate having to shave for it, if you know what I mean.

I can deal with winter in Buffalo, too, if it means staying indoors, having plenty of stock in the pantry and the furnace holding up. Snow days are a wunnerful thing.

But couldn’t we hang out somewhere in the middle? Cooler days, cooler evenings where it’s nice to sit around a fire outside and to smallows?

BTW, my dog is nuts in the snow, too. His mohawk gets off frosty and looks silly. It’s great. (And hey, no need to pooper scoop in the winter until it freezes solid. Or do what TFB does - wait until spring thaw.)

  11. I was about to write a pro-summer/anti-winter creed, but I think winter is really about where you live.

When I lived in Vermont, I loved winter; it was old-school gorgeous, with huge puffy snow dunes and ice-covered trees that turned into prisms when the sun came out.

But living in Boston now, and having to slop through dirty snow and ice to get to work and having one’s face peeled off by the wind while trying to get lunch… it makes me want to run back down below the Mason Dixon line and hide under the covers.

I grew up in the South, and I would gladly take those 100 degree days (with crippling humidity)

  12. I’m with ya on the summer thing. I HATE it. I hate sweating, I hate feeling all grimy, I just hate summer. I like cozy fall. That’s my favorite.

  14. I had a St. Bernard when I was a kid. Brandy, original huh? She would run out biting at the snow and lay in it for hours. I came home from school one day to find a firetruck in the driveway. Brandy (a large puppy at the time) had her head stuck in between the bannisters of the basement stairs. Large dogs are the best and most gentle with kids, my sister has a Great Dane now. Chicago has been so hot and humid the last couple of weeks, I’m ready for snow myself.

  15. I hear yah, Summer sucks! It’s hot, humid, bugs everywhere, just being out in the shit for a few minutes takes it out of you. Luckily though It’s almost over. It’s mid August already and in September it starts getting better.
